I thought I would share with you my passion, my vision and the mission I am on to achieve it.
Before I tell you my Vison I want to start today with Vision, Mission and Values, it stuns me how many businesses get this wrong and I am not talking just small ones here, big corporate FTSE 100 and Fortune 500 ones get this wrong a LOT, the word Vision comes from the Latin Viso – to see, so it has to be something that you can see, it’s not something you do, that’s a mission and a mission without a vision is just corporate Bull.
My Vision is one where the business world makes this a better place for everyone.
A world where ethical entrepreneurs are the standard, where they are the rock stars of business, where they have access to the knowledge and support to build thriving ethical businesses that solve real world problems, create fantastic working environments, caring for, developing and inspiring its people to make the world a better place.
That is why I’m on a mission to clear up the misconceptions around leadership that causes the 96% of businesses to fail or get stuck I talked about in my last article, at least for the ethical ones 😊
That is where values come in, values are not words on a wall, they are not created by some management consultant, they are the standards on which a company is founded, they are the rules by which the game is played, they are the line in the sand that you and your team WILL NOT CROSS.
The beauty is you don’t need to articulate these things at the beginning of your journey, in fact it is likely it would be extremely difficult for you to articulate a feeling, to Cleary communicate the “why” you started the business, or what it is that drives you, and as far as values goes, you already have your standards, your principles, it is who you are, if you are mean and become successful you will be a mean successful person, there are plenty of those in the world.
Which brings me onto the fallacy of leadership, the lie you have been sold for more than 30 years now.
That if you are a “Good Leader” who cares about their people, that want others to succeed, that cares about the world, their family and are creating other leaders, if you aspire to this you will be successful.
I vehemently disagree, and if you are honest so do you, you are probably a good human that cares about their employees and customers, you are probably ethical and committed, you love your family and work hard, but you are not leading your industry, you are not a billionaire, most of you reading this can not put your hands on a million in cash, and that’s because being a good human is simply being a good human, it has very little to do with success, or indeed leadership.
Other wise explain Hitler, Stalin, or Trump.
You want to get results, you want to lead your industry, you want to make an impact, then switch your focus from whatever it is you currently focus on and get really good at the 5 Key things that drive business performance.
That’s strategic planning, effective management, the ability to find the right customers, sell at the right price, and deliver way more value than anybody else in your industry does for the price you are selling at.
And all of that needs to be wrapped up in the blanket of innovation and anticipation, or if you like the ability to predict change and make it happen.
This is why I have never really liked calling myself a coach, that implies I am going to coach you to be a better service provider, manufacturer or a better wholesaler, and I am not, I am not going to help you be better at what you do because you are already pretty damn good at it.
What I do is show you how to get the results you really want, the value I bring is to help you build your business, and get the life and the legacy you are denying yourself.
I do that by making sure you stay focused on those areas that drive business performance.
