The Fourth pillar of an extraordinary life is to be bold, courageous and decide to act

We all have fear, fear about how we will look if things go wrong, fear of being ridiculed, judged or maligned, we can fear success as people will judge, we fear failure for the same reason, we identify real fears and we imagine fears, and yet if you doing nothing people will judge you, if you try and fail they will judge you but at least you tried and if you succeed you will be judged the most harshly, and I am sure most of you are already aware of this.

The leaders in your industry, your sport, your hobby make the hard decisions quickly and then act, this is the only route to huge results, action, and yet action is where we come unstuck, where we procrastinate and make excuses, where our courage and confidence to act is not high enough to overcome our inertia, this is why Mindset, Purpose and passion are so important, to quote Phillip Hesketh, the author of how to persuade and influence people.

“If it’s important you will find a way and if it’s not you will find an excuse”

Courage is not to be without fear, courage is to be “fearless” or to fear the action less than you fear not acting so to fear – less, deciding to act comes from the courage you create when your purpose and passion is so consuming that not acting is more painful than acting.

Most decisions are not final we can change our mind, like a door that we went through by mistake we can simply turnaround and walk out again, it’s very rare that a door locks when you go through it and decisions are the same, if you make a bad one, learn from it then turn around go back and try something else.

Develop the philosophy used by Apple and Facebook of failing faster, failure is a good thing because it teaches us what works and what doesn’t, for us as individuals, fear of getting it wrong will mean you live in mediocrity, making the decision and acting now will eventually lead you to an extraordinary life.

Whether the decision is right or wrong is way less important than deciding to act, so stop waiting for things to be perfect or even just better, stop waiting to know more or for the best time there is no best time, and you are good enough now.

You are the person, and this is the time to act, ask yourself “why not you” and if not now “then when”. Trust me tomorrow never comes and you deserve a better, easier, happier life and it’s just a decision or a series of them away.

Once a decision is made, commit to it fully.

The ability to make decisions quickly and easily comes from having the right mindset and the right goals, then it is simply a case of asking yourself, does this action get me closer to my goal or push me further away.

Then act, review, learn, act, review and so on until you get the progress you seek.

Learn to decide to act faster, decide to try more things, decide to be better, decide to be extraordinary.
